About Chinese Classical Music Ensemble

Chinese Classical Music Ensemble has performed classical and original repertoires on Chinese and Western instruments in numerous concerts and soundtracks for more than a decade. They have collaborated and perfomed with organizations such as the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony various movies, and video games. In 2002 and 2006, this group’s enthusiastic performance at the LA Music Center was featured in a highlight broadcast that aired nationally on PBS. Chinese Classical Music Ensemble also organizes "Splendor of China" special program featuring music, lion dance, martial arts, and acrobatics.

About Director

Zhiming Han, award winning film composer, producer and world class Chinese instruments virtuoso. Born in Shanghai, China, Mr. Han received his MA in music composition from UCLA. He also is the winner of Henry Mancini Award for film composition. His performance credits include CD albums “Celestial Echo”, “Morning in the Forest”, and concerts in China, Europe, and the U.S. including concerts with San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Opera, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and recording for Disney’s Mulan II. His solo performances at Los Angeles Music Center were telecast by PBS, and regarded as “Definitely a high ranker” and “Topping out of Applause here... Fantastic!” by KCET. He has worked with Oscar-winning Hollywood composers such as James Horner and John Williams in movie soundtracks. His solo performance is featured in Jackie Chan’s movies and video game “Jade Empire”. As a composer, his compositions for yangqin had become standard repertory in China. His works include film scoring for Chinese television series and composing for Taiwan Taipei Chinese Orchestra. He is the president of Eastwest Entertainment and Productions. He is also a voting member for Grammy Award.  In 2008, “Melodies of China” he produced and recorded was the winner in DTS surround and DSD stereo competition in China.
